Autopilot Cars- Part II — When AI is the Spirit of Car

Note: These are authors own view, and is not intended to go against any manufacturer. It is just to put light on some issues and some solutions that need to be resolved for safety of autopilot mode to be on the road.

So in last part of this blog, I asked you who would give driving license for an autopilot car?

Well, autopilot cars can be understood to have been using AI algorithms in it. This AI has some criterions, means some learning rules, learning how to drive, when to stop, when to decrease speed, when to honk, how to park, how to drive in reverse gear. So this is all based on age of the maturity of the autopilot car. The AI is built incrementally, then its experience increases, if the AI is not built incrementally then the experience and hence learning would be less, this determine the age of the spirit of car. This means the one who drives such cars is AI, hence it is mentioned here the Spirit of Car is AI. Driving license is based on AI algorithm and software package itself.

Another question I asked was, what would be age of car, in case of autopilot car?

The first time when the AI software ran with driver in supervised to semi-supervised car, was the birthday of the AI Software. Say, “Happy Birthday” to the cars who use such an AI on this date, its made matured with consistent driving and learning lessons with time, so if one started training the cars with AI in 2019 then now its age is 6 years, next the decision to make is can a approximately 6 year training enough for auto-pilot cars to pass driving tests?

Is driving test needed for an AI car?

It depends on the place where car is driving, China may have different rules due to population density, same with Kenya, different rules, USA may have its rules. Aim is with this maturity of AI algorithms, and __ years of training of AI algorithms on real data, in __ years in supervised and __ years of semi supervised way and __ years in unsupervised algorithms.

Can some other car use the AI made for another car ? Or some other car use the AI algorithm integrated in software?

Need to ask manufacturer if they want to sell their softwares and algorithms and devise hardwares are complainat to use. However, this can be used in simulation.

Can AI car pass computer based simulation test or real test needed ?

It depends on the place, as said before in China, some places are crowded and some outskirts are not, different driving tests, can be simulated or tested.
