Salary versus Work Hours? TCS fires 12000 and raises the salary of so many

Its here,

— What is this, laying off over 12,000 mid and senior-level staff.

— And, hikes for 80% of its workforce effective September 1, 2025.

So, what does that mean?

Who will do the work of 12,000 mid- and senior-level staff who are fired? AI, new humans, or non-fired employees?

Would their work be assigned to other TCS employees?

12,000 is a big number.

12,000 are being laid off.

Would the work they were doing be given to other employees? Or would TCS hire new employees?

Or does TCS have automated the work of 12,000 employees?

And would the workload of the remaining staff in TCS increase?

If so, TCS won’t hire new employees?

If not, these 80% of employees whose salary would increase, would their work hours increase too? Would they be given the work of laid off employees?

What is the average work hour for a Techie these days, across industries?

What is the average working hours for an AI automation engineer these days?

What impact would it have on the ecosystem of the Software and AI industries?

Would other companies follow TCS?

Do people prefer a salary increase without the trouble of increased work hours?

What profit does TCS make with this?

Or what losses was TCS incurring that this step was taken?

These are questions we all want to know, amid we know AI has come.
