We all know how fast AI is moving. But at the same time, people are concerned about the growth of AI.
We need an AI that is human-fied —AI with a human touch.
We don’t allow airplanes without pilots, even though they are automated.
I have spoken extensively against autonomous cars because there are things machines can’t detect, like a sudden curve. Humans have perception; they can sense things beyond what machines are trained for, almost like a sixth or seventh sense. How can a fully automated car recognize a landslide when it’s only trained on driving rules? I’ve always voiced my dislike for fully autonomous cars. There are so many humans —why not hire a driver instead of paying high maintenance costs for self-driving cars? One more thing about self-driving cars is that they require software upgrades; each upgrade requires retesting the car. You need biannual tests. Why so many fully autonomous cars on the roads? What if they all form a union? Soon, we’ll have talking IoT machines for smart systems.
Yes, I am against fully autonomous cars, but I am not against AI.
We need AI for so many things.
Humans can’t go to the Moon, Venus, Mars, Asteroids, and more, but AI can.
Humans can help us in climate calamities but AI can do more help.
What if, God forbid, another epidemic or pandemic comes to Earth? We need AI for it, among many other reasons. We need to learn lessons from COVID 19.
But at the same time, I don’t say we would leave AI to do all the work on itself.
We need to be ready for things, but with human assistance.
I don’t say don’t add AI to fully automate banks; add it, but you can’t give a bank cashier’s work to AI. We need people in banks; otherwise, bank robberies are certain.
We need nurses and doctors there, even though bots help a lot with the work. The problem here is work pressure, sudden demands, and more.
We need humans with AI. I think I have made it clear. But humans love 3-4 days working in a week, so for rest days can we ask some work from AI?
These are just some examples.
We can extend these examples to other areas such as medicine, post offices, networking stations, teaching, markets, meat shops, cinema, news anchors, and more.
We must know: if we don’t use AI, someone else will —say China, say Korea, say Japan.
Do you want to be behind someone, as you care for mankind more than we all care for mankind?
It’s a temporary phase.
It’s a temporary anxiety you are having over AI.
This temporary fear would fade over time. The people making AI are highly intelligent humans, not robots; give them some time to know what they are trying to do.
Sam Altman recently developed an app feature that lets people talk love to others. Love is vanishing from Earth; everyone is up to something. What is wrong with seeing a love message a day from her in the morning to brighten your day? Yes, no one wants you to ditch your most beloved girlfriend or boyfriend. What if she is temporarily busy or not available?
There are some areas where humans need help; one such example is teaching. The curriculum is changing rapidly, and trained lecturers are in high demand. By the time a faculty member is trained, the syllabus has often changed. Industries are moving quickly.
I mentioned before that AI is still in its childhood. Now, AI is entering its teenage years and will start handling tasks typical of that age. When AI matures into adulthood, then see how it is.
Until then, remember that AI was created in the 1950s and reached its peak in 2025. Tell me, how much time did that take? So, how much longer do we need? We still have time, so don’t worry, nobody is making you work for robots.
In the end, humans will oversee all AI activities; we won’t let the world run solely on automated AI machines even when these machines are safe, secure, well-trained, and learned. But machines can never match humans’ perception, senses, and decision-making. So stay relaxed and be confident that the people supporting AI are humans indeed—mankind’s best. It will take some time to get everything in order, as AI unfolds a new chapter every day. That’s why new critics appear daily. So, be a supporter—say what you don’t like, but remember, no one is freezing the progress AI is making. You liked ChatGPT so it rose; you don’t like robots, so they aren’t used and we switched to bots. If you don’t like helping hand at home, there are people who need bot to bring a coffee for you flying in air, such as old people? What to help them? Not all AI is for youth? Simple.
What about jobs? I will discuss it sooner.
