Intelligence has come a long way. Gen AI is new, but neural networks and AI have been around for decades. What happened with Gen AI was not by chance but through sheer invention. It’s like everyone watching the apple fall, but only Newton discovered the law. Others may have helped but are not remembered much.
The combination of the brain and Mind in humans is hard to replicate.
Saying that someday intelligence will evolve into human-like beings isn’t entirely correct, but it might not be wrong either. The pace at which progress is happening suggests we are heading towards a new stage in “The Evolution of Super Intelligence.”
Now, with the advent of Quantum Computing, a new kind of speed may be added to slow tasks, and machines will produce more insights into information. Information that is faster than it ever was.
Concepts like intuition, hunches, visualizations, thinking, emotional intelligence, and memory-based reasoning, to name a few, are possessed by humans. But can machines ever possess them? If yes, then whatever humans can do, machines can do too. Is that morally wrong? It might be right for some tasks, but for welfare? As of now, most people would say it isn’t right.
The debate is not about Professor Gary Marcus claiming that LLMs can’t achieve intelligence, nor about Sam Altman failing, since symbolic intelligence and reasoning are not part of ChatGPT.
And they claim otherwise.

Every aspect of science has its role to play. Professor Gary Markus’ reasoning has its own place, but that does not make Gen AI useless or weak. Evolution didn’t happen just to monkeys to more advanced beings, but even plants evolved with time. Everything has to move and progress in tandem.
Everything has a role in the process of Evolution, we are heading into that is “Evolution of (Super) Intelligence.”
To be continued..
