There is a lot to do. Just look at the night sky, and you will see how many space objects there are. There are so many stars, and each star may have many planets. You need to think beyond Earth for a while. There may not be alien-looking aliens, but there may be beautiful species like humans with different ears, or empty places worthy of human life to expand into. We have to think of that future. We have to extend life. Earth is about 4 billion years old. The Sun can get brighter and hotter; solar flares often disrupt signals on Earth; many space bodies often enter the Solar System. We don’t just need to protect human existence, but also the future; freezing human eggs is not enough. We need to think about what the future of the world is like, and the world is huge, beyond Earth too.
The universe is so big. Earth’s population is around 8 billion people. AI is automating work; how many hours do other species, apart from humans, work? How much can Earth produce? How can Earth produce more? How can we allow people who are not getting sufficient food to feed well? How to help fund healthcare for all? How to avoid people from falling sick, which can save a lot of healthcare costs?
How to stop aging? How to live long? How to avoid getting cancer? There are big questions and need big answers. We need AI to help answer all this. Once humans start living longer, Earth’s population could surpass 8 billion people. How would we feed this huge population and make sure new births happen at the right times in all places around the world?
Apart from that, there are celestial bodies that often enter the solar system. How can we ensure they don’t strike Earth? How can we reach Europa, Jupiter’s moon, which is more likely to have life there, until then the Moon is mankind’s mission. The Moon’s South Pole has traces of water beneath its surface. Do you know how many jobs would be created if the Moon became the next business hub?
How will you do all this? Without AI? Yes, some say solar AI is the insurance against it. So, why are you looking at the micro problem in the world, the BAD AI? There is bad AI, but we need to sort it out. Don’t call good AI bad just because you can’t see the good. See the good in AI, and then call out the bad AI that must be fixed. We need to differentiate good AI from bad AI. We need to distinguish useful AI from harmful AI.
It happens in society as well. If there is good, there is bad too. We don’t stop the world when the bad starts to rise; we control the bad. So the same policy must be applied to bad AI too. No looking up at the night sky next time you feel this way. AI is only a few years old now; it will make mistakes. But what we must know is that the future is vast with solar AI, and even pollution would be minimal. And we head to a world of infinite possibilities, and the human population would go beyond 8.3 billion in times to come, as aging is cured by AI.
Toward a better world where AI and robotics help the world, and at the same time we must take care to avoid bad AI. We must know the difference between good AI and bad AI. And we must make sure to look at what we are on Earth and where we want to go, and think big. Making grains in huge amounts so that it can feed the growing populations and, at the same time, expanding the horizons of life beyond the planet we live on. There is a lot to do to achieve this; we are just at the start. The universe is big, so think big.
