AI and Tech this Week!

Here are the latest this week in AI and Tech, not just products; key AI news here as well. Stay tuned! (Find my comments in italics.)

OpenAI

— OpenAI’s Jalapeño AI chip is said to be faster than existing chips. It beats NVIDIA chips and should be available by year-end.

— ChatGPT Business Premium seats are designed especially for smaller companies with heavy or high-load AI projects, with monthly billing of around $100. This can be a boon for startups and small-sized companies, as they would get personalization that until now only big companies were getting.

Meta

— Meta has officially launched Muse Image on the Meta Model API. Costs $0.01 per image.

— Meta agreed to pay around $17 billion over 12 months for the Children’s Protection and Teen Addiction case across states in the USA.

But why was TikTok asked less? TikTok is more addictive.

Google

— Pro and Ultra users can access, run, and manage their sessions on their web browsers of choice.

— Gemini 3.5 Transcribe & Transcribe Live. For a high-quality speech-to-text model with auto-detection of more than 85 languages. Available on Google AI Studio.

— Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash for video generation and editing was released and is available on Google AI Studio, as well as other platforms.

Anthropic

— Claudeforce — Salesforce and Anthropic partner.

Claude’s intelligence in Salesforce can make CRM more human-like: no more feeding data in the pre-AI era; the aim should be to talk to and access Salesforce intelligently, gain insight into the data, assess tasks, and make efficient predictions. This is possible by securely sharing CRM data, workflows, business logic, and actions with AI.

— Claude can create more now, with access to 135 million YouTube channels.

What about data safety? What about our rights to our YouTube data? That data belongs to the YouTuber. How can someone sell it to other AI companies? What about governance? What if AI companies make our clone or run their competing channels?

— Leaked rumors: Opus 5 soon.

It could just be noise, given Fable 5 has security concerns to be looked into. But what if this is real? Then it’s too soon?

China AI

Do you want to run a Chinese model on your systems? Here are the latest from this week.

— The Alibaba Qwen 3.8 Flash Next 176B model has been released. You can run it locally because it has open weights, and the weights are available on HuggingFace. It’s an experimental architecture for the upcoming Qwen 4 model.

— GLM-5.3-Flash from Z.ai, given the name “Ox Alpha,” is multimodal. It is also an open-weight model with a 1-million-token context window and 330 billion parameters. It runs entirely on Chinese AI chips. Reaches Claude Opus 4.8 performance at a much lower price.

Would Claude Opus 4.8 reduce its prices now? Z.ai has consistently increased its pricing.

Andrew Ng’s OpenWorker is an open-source project that completes work on your desktop, not just through chatting. It is said to have tough security features. OpenWorker Harness is also open source and is said to be secure. You can run an open-weights model locally, or use it with an API such as ChatGPT.

Robotics

— Skild AI launched S1, a general-purpose robotics foundation model that learns from just a few examples. It can learn from a few videos and generalize. It learns from a 10-minute video or a live prompt to complete a task. Examples shown include flipping pancakes after watching real work and assembling custom kits.

Some News of AI and Tech around the world

— Bill Gates speaks about AI -it’s good and more on what is bad in the growth of AI, keeping in view mass unemployment that can come with the advent of AI.

— New Zealand introduced a bill to ban social media for under-16s, including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and Snapchat. They made age verification more stringent.

— Graduate job vacancies dropped by 50% as per the BBC.

— Chinese courts call for no termination of human jobs based on AI replacements. That AI can’t simply replace humans for productivity.

Come on, China, who is making robots and releasing new AI each weekat this speed- China and it is saying this? This is double standards of China.

— Child Safety Lawsuits: TikTok: $400M lawsuit, while Meta: $1 trillion. Meta agreed to pay $17 billion over 12 months.

— The founder of China’s Evergrande Group, once China’s richest man, has been convicted of fraud and sentenced to life in prison.

But why was it allowed in the first place? Why, when so much money is taken out of the pockets of the Chinese middle class, are they waking up now? What about compensation to the buyers?

— Apple launched the Mac mini ($899) for moderate tasks and the Mac Studio ($2,499) for professional workflows and intense memory needs.

— The USA Justice Department and FBI have taken control of platforms used by China-linked hackers to attack U.S. critical infrastructure.
